Guide to Bhandardara Camping 

Introduction 

It is located near Lagatpuri in the Western ghats of India. Bhandardara is located in the Akole tehsil, Ahemadnagar a small district almost 120 km from Mumbai. The little village is home to many adventure activities and mesmerising beauty. The highest peak of Maharashtra mount Kalsubai is around 5,400 ft. The place is a must-visit and a famous tourist attraction.

Bhandardara is one of the most famous tourist destinations among travellers. It is known for its natural beauty and some nearby tourist destinations. It includes hills, majestic waterfalls, and dams such as Wilson dam and Arthur lake. Visiting Bhandardara Lake is a mesmerising experience. The campsite consists of many picnic locations and is best to visit for nature lovers. You can take advantage of this highly pleasing camping session at Igatpuri . How to Reach?

Through Private Transportation: 

Distance of campsite from Mumbai: 165 km

From Pune: 175 km 

Through Public Transportation: 

It is at a distance of about 8 km from Bhandardara city centre and a distance of 60 km from Kasara Railway Station. It is about 41 km from lgatpuri railway station. 

Bhandardara Camping Itinerary

Day 1

Check-in to the beautiful campsite

  • Arrive at the campsite and check in to your assigned tents.
  • Have your snacks after check-in and fresh up. 
  • Gain an unforgettable experience during the camp while barbecuing. 
  • Then you can have a delicious feast and dance to some music while sitting around a bonfire.

Day 2

End of the Experience

  • Have a delicious morning breakfast.
  • You can rejuvenate yourself by boating for almost 20 minutes which will cover the main attraction points such as dams, waterfalls, lakes and many more. 
  • On this day you have to check out from the camp with some beautiful memories. 

Places to visit during your trip –

Sandhan Valley :

This valley is around 25 km from the camp and has a beautiful waterfall sight that you shall enjoy looking at sitting around or a good swimming time is too welcome here, available only during the monsoon. This place is a must visit for the people who love cool camps.

Wilson Dam:

Built in the early 1910s at a height of 150m above sea level and built on the river Parvara the Wilson dam is a huge infrastructure to witness and is one of the country’s oldest dams.

Ratangad Fort:

Showing off the achievement of the famous and fierce fighter Shivaji the Ratangad fort was taken over by him in an astonishing battle and gives you the most beautiful views of the place from the top.

Ratanwadi Temple:

At a distance of around 17km from the place the temple is built on the banks of the river Parvara, being one of the temples built by King jhanj the temple dates back to around 1200 years ago and is still maintained as it is, dedicated to Lord Shiva this temple is a must visit for the tourists and his devotees.

Mount Kalsubai

The highest mountain peak in Maharashtra, the mountain gives you the cool temperature and mesmerising sites you never want to miss. It is always beautiful sitting on the mountain tops with a tea in your hand and the entire valley right before you. 

Best time to visit Bhandardara 

The best thing about this place is that there is no need for you to depend on the weather or the forecast conditions to plan your trip. You are in charge of almost everything and you are the one who decides when to visit the place. The weather is so cool around the year you can visit this place anytime around on what suits you, monsoon shall be a bit better for a few places but that is not so necessary to convenience you change your plans or ideas.

Time and activities at the camp

The average trip shall be divided into 2 days. It will make up reaching on the first day and enjoying at the camp. It will include activities such as little games may be both outdoor and indoor, music around for you. And also bonfires at the night to make the surroundings a lot better and barbeque acting as icing on the cake. The next day shall be kept for a good breakfast. After that taking off to visit all the places you wish to go for. Also it would be very advised to extend your trip for a few more days and take away from normal and hectic city life into the arms of nature for relaxation of the mind.
